David Lammy is so far out of his depth that it not even funny. His latest display of his characteristic ignorance is his suggestion that Azerbaijan "liberated" what he is pleased to call Nagorno-Karabakh, and that as part of a strategy of distancing itself from Russia. Where to begin?
Having destroyed, in Artsakh, one of the oldest Christian civilisations in the world, Azerbaijan is the main supplier of oil and gas to those who are actively trying to destroy the oldest of all, including the Armenian Quarter of Jerusalem, burning down churches and spitting on priests as a matter of religious obligation. In turn, Israel arms Azerbaijan to the teeth. But then, so does Russia, even while being armed by Iran in Ukraine. One could go on. And on, and on, and on, and on, and on.
The world is a complicated place. That makes it no place for Lammy. Nor for the Prime Minister who had made him Foreign Secretary.
I agree with Ed West’s suggestion that Britain should prioritise Christian refugees-from places like Nagorno-Karabakh-and not take any from France. Instead, we seem to prioritise asylum seekers who are as culturally different from us as possible, usually Muslims.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure that those communities are quite as you imagine. But yes, Armenians, Palestinians and Lebanese it is, then.
