Dog Days

Last January, the radio informed me that a German shepherd had given birth to a record-breaking litter of 16. What wokery is this, I thought? If she had given birth, then she must by definition have been a German shepherdess. There is the same room for confusion amidst all this talk of American XL bullies.

Has anyone ever bred a dog of which the grandparents were a Pit Bull terrier, a Japanese Tosa, a Dogo Argentino, and a Fila Brasileiro, the four breeds that were already banned in the United Kingdom? Oh, and "Dogo"? Unless they really do mean "Doge", for which Dogo is Spanish, then this is like the practice in parts of Latin America of saying carro instead of coche.  American XL bullies, indeed. No. No. ¡Yanqui No!

It turns out that half of all American XL Bullies in Britain are descended from one Killer Kimbo, who himself had only one great-grandfather. Dogs do inbreed if left to themselves, but it is another matter for a human being to facilitate that. In view of the hideous deformities that it inflicted, including on the organ that was the brain, then it may be possible to argue that it was already illegal, and it certainly would be to make it so, explicitly, in Statute. Let that be done.
