Nonce Sense

All right, then, Keir Starmer, why was Jimmy Savile not charged? Who did take the decision not charge him? And since Cressida Dick has rightly had to resign for things that she herself had not done, but for which she was responsible, why are you not responsible for things that happened on your watch but without your direct personal involvement? You were happy enough to take credit for such occurrences when the opportunity arose.

Not that anyone believes that the decision not to charge an immensely famous and a knighted friend of Prince Charles and of Margaret Thatcher was taken by anyone other than the Director of Public Prosecutions, but what if it had been?

Most people, including me, have never met a paedophile. Yet our lords and masters are forever turning out to have known them for decades, apparently by sheer bad luck, and always without ever having suspected a thing. But never, ever, ever ask why we should be governed by persons whose luck was so much worse than everyone else's, and who were so much easier to fool than the rest of us would be.

  1. Do you think the claims about how prevalent it is are because it's so common in elite circles?

    1. In part, yes. Is that about normalising it, or is it because they already assume it to be normal? A bit of both, I expect. The same is true of the supposed prevalence of illegal drug use.
