The Chips Are Down

There must only be a skeleton staff, what with the Plague, so I hope that Boris Johnson and Ursula von der Leyen are enjoying their moules et frites. That was once the third closest that I have ever come to getting married. I blame Chardonnay. At least, that was what she told me that her name was.

Keir Starmer says that he cannot say whether or not he would vote for a deal that he had not yet seen. Yet he and his absolutely insisted that we were all going to have to support whatever terms David Cameron brought back to keep us in. They did so from the very start, before any negotiation had begun. Whether or not he voted in favour of it, Starmer is certainly not going to vote against Johnson's deal.

The Conservatives put us back into the tiers, while Labour and the Liberal Democrats abstained. The remaining Labour MPs for County Durham did rebel, but that was what they were doing. And now the Conservatives are going to keep us subject to the wretched State Aid rules and to all the rest of the "level playing field", but without even the slightest say over what those requirements were going to be.

Yet Labour and the Lib Dems will either abstain, or go so far as to vote in favour. I am the Independent parliamentary candidate for North West Durham. What are you doing?
