The Power Of Speech

Or not, as the case may be.

Oh, well, the public school and the bitter old Blairite line from the huddle is obvious enough where this morning's oration is concerned. But I for one fell asleep during it. I bet that I was not the only one. Let's wait for the polls and then the upcoming by-elections (you know, real votes), shall we? We all know what they are going to say.

No less than Margaret Thatcher was removed by her own party after a by-election at which it had done better than it is about to do three times in one night, in one case in what remains for the time being nominally a Conservative seat.

If that Corby result, especially, is as bad as it looks as if it is going to be, then Cameron's days really will be numbered? Or has his party lost its survival instinct altogether? We are about to find out. They know that they are not going to win in 2015. But they still don't fancy being wiped off the map. Do they?
