Putting The Peter Into Peterhouse

Further to the news that Dr Edward Norman is to be received into the Catholic Church on Sunday, under the aegis of the Ordinariate, both an extended review of Dr Norman's most recent books, and a study of the Ordinariate, are included in this volume.

Ignore the nasty comments, which are all by the same person, a former student of mine who, in addition to being a very lapsed and strongly pro-abortion Catholic, has mental health problems and is known to the Police for harassment.

  1. Across a wide range of theological, historical and political questions, you are shaping up to be the heir to Edward Norman.

Go through the list of his books, go through the specific contents of things like A History of Modern Ireland and The Victorian Christian Socialists, and the point is made.

  2. After the publication of Confessions of an Old Labour High Tory, several people told me to take a look at his earlier works.

The University Library had, and has, The Victorian Christian Socialists, among others. I was able to track down several of the others, including A History of Modern Ireland via this medium.

And yes, its thinking is very close to mine, if I may say so, on its subject. Great minds...?

  3. The joys of an academic staff library card.

  4. How did I ever get by without one? With a postgrad library card, of course. And with an undergrad one before that. 15 years without a break, always the same email address and everything. God's Own University and I are practically married. Think of my staff card as my marriage certificate or my wedding ring. Except that I got it for free. Can't say better than that, can you?
