Lone Star Snow

I have no truck with the use of climate change hysteria as an excuse to destroy or prevent secure employment, to drive down wages or working conditions, to arrest economic development around the world, to forbid the working classes and non-white people from having children, to inflate the fuel prices that always hit the poor hardest, or to restrict either travel opportunities or a full diet to the rich.

But on global warming itself, I pass as little comment as possible.

However, my uncle tells me today that he has snow.

In Texas.

  1. Good post. What strikes me as interesting is that some of the people who most loudly trumpet the "battle" of “enlightening” science versus “obscurantist” religion, all of a sudden become primitivists when it comes to climate change.

Even if we assume for the sake of argument that climate change is real, why can't we apply our scientific knowledge to fix the problem, without resorting to the degradation of the living standards of the working-class or the prevention of third world development?

This bizarre situation makes me think there are other motives afoot.

  2. No, its not a good post. What David is stupidly saying is "ooh look, snow - wasn't it meant to be global *warming*, har har har?"

Whereas he knows perfectly well that it is climate change, which includes more extremes of temperatures of hot and cold

There is, of course, a debate about the extent of this, and the extent to which it is man made. But snow in Texas proves nothing.

  4. anonymous - because it was a moronic post that does nothing to further a legitimate debate about climate change, and makes the author looks silly
