Cameron is apparently planning some sort of legislative assault on trade union funding of the Labour Party. I have long considered that the unions must be masochistic to the point of madness, that they continue to fund New Labour.
They should instead fund individual candidates, of any party or none, based on public subscription to specific policies, including a record accordingly where those seeking re-election are concerned.
That, or even the present state of affairs, is obviously superior to the bankrolling of a political party by a single individual. An individual, moreover, who is not even resident in the United Kingdom for tax purposes.
