Town Hall Meeting
Those who tried to keep Nick Griffin out of Manchester Town Hall are exactly the sort of people whose antics have given the BNP its present prominence. Never mind Question Time or Any Questions. Let’s have Griffin, Brons, Barnbrook and the rest on everything from Have I Got News For You to Desert Island Discs. They more that they are exposed instead of barracked, the less support they will receive.

Its ironic that nobody seems to get that in a part of the "UK", the DUP express much the same hate as the BNP. And Allister of TUV actually endorses BNP.
ReplyDeleteLikewise Sinn-Féin-IRA is an overtly terrorist organisation.
These people are now mainstream. Yet the understandable distaste that Dimpleby and others have for fascists like Griffin is not replicated in their treatment of DUP, TUV and Sinn Féin-IRA.
I was slightly disquieted by the "arrogance" (I can think of no other word) that the media display towards elected representatives of the British people.
Those who set the political agenda on Europe (politicians, business, bankers, media an academics) have too often expressed apathy towards the wishes of the people.
As someone (I forget) said last night they have for years dismissed the anti Europe/Common Market people as "crazies" so eventually in desperation they turn to the......crazies.
Take note Queens University Belfast School of Politics and International Affairs.
Yet it is odd that in the 1960s BBC and UTV were barely civil to nationalists.
In the 1970s they remained hostile to Sinn Féin-IRA.
Now they treat SF-IRA equally.
Not so much journalistic integrity as doing the bidding of the Northern Ireland Office.
A lesson for Dimbleby, Adam Boulton and the rest. In twenty years time the BNP might be "mainstream".
But it was amusing to see Griffin do the Churchill/Agincourt victory sign on the day after D Day Anniversary.
