European Voice reports that some member states have expressed concern about the contents of the "declaration" to reassure Irish voters about the implications of the Lisbon Treaty before the second referendum this autumn.

It is being prepared for the 18th-19th June European Council that is expected to finalise the text. However, Britain, Poland, Sweden, Denmark and Finland have asked for it not to emphasise workers' rights over the "free" market, according to EU diplomats.

Yet again, this highlights the anti-worker character of European federalism in general and the Lisbon Treaty.
