Never mind that Ken Clarke is shadowing Peter Mandelson. Up the corridor, the job of facing Mandy in the House of which he is a member has gone to David Hunt, whom older readers may dimly remember as John Major’s chef de cabinet, and who is as hardline a Eurofederalist as it is possible to imagine.
