Assembly Line

Of course every school, whether in Sheffield or anywhere else in these islands, should have a single school assembly each day.

And of course, it should be wholly or mainly of a broadly Christian character.

If you don't like a country, then why would you want to move to it?

School assembly is not and never has been the defining attribute of the United Kingdom.

Not "the", no.

But "a", undoubtedly.

No, not even "a".

I doubt it.

I don't know which Britain either of you has been living in!

David, Premier League Football has a better claim to be a core part of the UK identity - do you object to people moving here if they don't enjoy that?

It has no such thing. Don't be facetious. And who mentioned enjoyment?

I notice that no-one commenting on this story (on any blog) has mentioned that the really important thing about school assemblies is singing together.

Why don't school children sing together anymore?

Why not, indeed?

Remember those scenes from schools after Diana died, with the teachers singing the hymns solo because none of the children had ever heard them? Tragic. Truly tragic.

To invade and take over?
