This is my four thousandth post.

Durham for British City of Culture?

There are two problems.

First, there will very soon officially be no such city as Durham, so that any member of the new unitary authority will be eligible to become Mayor and what have you. An award to Durham could only be an award to the entire county, with a dozen town centres, never mind anywhere else, wanting a slice.

And secondly, the Brit Awards? Must we? What else? The British Comedy Awards? Puh-lease!
