Stroke This

How can something totally sterile have a “next generation”? Embryonic stem cell “research” does not work. It has delivered absolutely nothing, and shows no sign of ever delivering anything. It is funded out of the public purse for purely ideological and not remotely scientific reasons, above all in order to offend the Catholic Church as the end in itself.

By contrast, adult and cord blood stem cell research does work, and holds out enormous further promise. But, for example, the practitioners of cord blood research have been so starved of funding that, like eighteenth-century émigré priests in reverse, they are effectively fleeing this country, specifically Newcastle, for, of all places, the French Republic. Not exactly a Vatican colony. Yet nevertheless a country that manifestly takes seriously both science and the alleviation of suffering. Unlike Britain.
