At The Soonest Possible Date?

As I wrote yesterday, “And what form will be taken by the customary and ceremonial departure of the Prime Ministerial family from Downing Street? It ought to be a veritable carnival of baby mommas, sugar daddies, rent boys, and one shudders to think what else. I can hardly wait.” The BBC has just interviewed Jenny Chapman.

Nigel Farage wants a General Election. Keir Starmer’s outrider, Mike Tapp, was saying that over the weekend. On the principles cited by Tapp and Farage, Winston Churchill could not have become Prime Minister in 1940. The last Prime Minister both to enter and to leave office at a General Election was Ted Heath, before most people were born. But whenever the Prime Minister has changed, then the Opposition has made this call, and the next Prime Minister will be the fifth in four years. The notable thing today is that that call has come from Reform UK rather than from the Conservative Party.
