It is a fascinating insight into the world of Britain's organised Right that the Conservative Party, the Daily Telegraph, the Daily Mail, The Spectator, GB News and Reform UK all assume that Middle Britain lived on trust funds invested offshore, and that those did not disincentivise work whereas sickness and disability benefits did, with those who lived on the former assumed to be the quintessence of "working people". The Labour Party exists to manage a system based on these assumptions until the Conservatives got their act together, but on what other basis has Labour ever been allowed to hold office? There is none on which it would even wish to do so.
Stephen Yaxley-Lennon is presumably a "working person" despite having no identifiable job whatever, and being maintained in the eurozone, of which he is a citizen, by the donations of his gullible supporters and by the far from charitable largesse of the foreign power the flag of which is conspicuous at his events. He moved an event to today so as to coincide with his court appearance, then he surrendered to the Police in the knowledge that, even if he were two-tieredly bailed for terrorism as no brown man ever would be, he would still have to be locked up for his contempt of court. And Laurence Fox has run away and hidden. He will be a born again Green, or some such, soon enough, telling us all about his "journey". Being strapped for cash is often the lot of minor toffs, never mind of resting actors. That is why a toff and an actor alike will always, always take the better offer.
I reckon you're right about Fox, it's all an act.
ReplyDeleteAnd he will just move on to the next character. That's showbusiness.
