Flush

At Prime Minister's Questions, the Tory Boys had all been to the same tailor's closing down sale. But at least they knew that one did not wear the poppy before November. Angela Rayner was answering while flanked by Lucy Powell and Rachel Reeves, so amid those Treasury Bench hairdos, Pat McFadden was letting the side down. Lord Alli needs to buy him a toupée. After he had bought the water supply.

Why not? The one thing that Jon Cunliffe's commission will be forbidden to consider will be the one thing that most people wanted, and which would be blatantly obvious in almost every other country on earth. Why should that be so? Why give the job to a former Deputy Governor of the Bank of England at all? Why not, most obviously, to Feargal Sharkey? If the Cunliffe Commission is anything like Ofwat, then it will call for legislation to ban private citizens from suing polluting water companies, before its members headed off to those companies' boards and senior executive positions.
