"Do we think that pubs are more important than schools?" is no longer the rhetorical question that the teachery-cum-Mumsnet lobby still thinks that it is. New Labour was a long time ago.
The economic changes since the Budget of December 1976 have created a ruling class of public sector middle-class women. Unable to understand the rage against deindustrialisation and against the harvesting of young men in endless, pointless wars, they are probably unaware of a growing number of young men's closely connected discovery for themselves of the various schools of heterodox economics, and of the traditional Great Books.
Although Jeremy Corbyn initially inspired many of those young men, he did not bring them on, and the Labour Party is once again terrified of them. But the Budget of March 2020 has ended the era that began with the Budget of December 1976. The Centre is the think tank for this new era. It already has plenty going on. And when this coming power of young men organises offline, then it does so down the pub.
