Vel Primus Vel Cum Primis?

A Hatfield man as Lord Chancellor? Truly, these are the End Times.

Robert Buckland and I have mutual friends, but he might at least have apologised for the fact that automatic release at the halfway point was introduced by a Conservative Government in the first place.

New Labour then embarked on its endless assaults on civil liberties, rather than restoring the minimum standards for conviction in a free society so as to be able to restore "due punishment of responsible persons".

Buckland has expressed no intention to reverse those assaults, the opposition to which at the time did not come from the Conservative front bench or from most Conservative MPs.

Another hung Parliament is coming, however, and we need our people to hold the balance of power in it. A new party is now in the process of registration.

After nearly 30 years of suggestion, speculation, and even a sort of preparation, I will stand for Parliament here at North West Durham. The crowdfunding page is here, and buy the book here.
