Hokey Cokey, Pig-In-A-Pokey?

The House of Commons in general, and the Parliamentary Labour Party in particular, are stuffed to the gills with Pauline from The League of Gentlemen; with members of the class that Margaret Thatcher created, those middle-class women of the public sector and its subsidiaries whose only job is to control working-class men.

Before being wafted into safe seats, they had only ever sat across the desk from people who had been there under compulsion and whom they had had the power to sack, or deprive of benefits, or evict, or blacklist, or stop from seeing their children, or slap with an ASBO, or send to prison. As far as they are concerned, any criticism or questioning whatever is "harassment", "abuse", and a matter for the Police. Jess Phillips, Stella Creasy, Luciana Berger, Anna Soubry, we all know the type.

Death threats? Get over yourselves. In old age, Tony Benn used to take pleasure whenever anyone still regarded him as sufficiently important to send a death threat. You are simply not a proper politician if you have never had at least one of those. For two years and counting, I have been subject to a death threat from the United States on behalf of the present rulers of India and Israel. Top that, Laura Pidcock.

Ah, yes, Laura Pidcock. One of the many beneficiaries of that entirely new and completely ridiculous feature of British politics, Pregnancy Privilege. Just as anything less than perfect deference to a politician who happens to be a woman is now the "misogyny" that Creasy proposes in all seriousness to make a criminal offence, and just as anything less than perfect deference to a politician who happens to be Jewish is now "anti-Semitism", so a special place in Hell is now reserved for anyone who shows anything less than perfect deference to a politician who happens to be pregnant, or who has recently given birth. Thus was Pidcock able to deprive this constituency of parliamentary representation throughout the hardly uneventful second half of 2018.

Another hung Parliament is coming, however, and we need our people to hold the balance of power in it. A new party is now in the process of registration. After nearly 30 years of suggestion, speculation, and even a sort of preparation, I will stand for Parliament here at North West Durham. The crowdfunding page is here, and buy the book here. Please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.
