The EU Is Not DUPed

Nobody imagines that the Government is actively pursuing a Brexit deal. But they are just playing it for laughs now. Every four years, the thing will have to be approved by the DUP? At this point, across the Chancelleries of Europe, they look up the DUP.

They are acquainted with the United Kingdom from more than 60 years of popular music and from their own frequent visits to London, the most liberal city in the world, New York without the United States. They are acquainted with Ireland from Leo Varadkar and from the odd weekend in twenty-first century Dublin.

But neither of those acquaintances will have prepared them for the DUP. And nothing could entice them to accept that such a party should have any kind of power over anything at all. Of course Boris Johnson, who himself has nothing whatever in common with the DUP, understands all of this perfectly well.

Another hung Parliament is coming, however, and we need our people to hold the balance of power in it. A new party is now in the process of registration. After nearly 30 years of suggestion, speculation, and even a sort of preparation, I will stand for Parliament here at North West Durham. The crowdfunding page is here, and buy the book here. Please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.
