Poll Position

The latest polling casually allocates North West Durham to the Lib Dems as if that were uncontroversial. They came third here last time, with 7.1 per cent of the vote.

Has anyone ever seen a piece of research that suggested that Laura Pidcock might keep her seat? I haven't, and I pay very close attention to these things. With her, Labour is now projected to come third at North West Durham. Third.

Anyway, except where there was also something else last time, then this kind of thing does of course presuppose precisely five candidates: Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democrat, Brexit Party, and Green. And I know exactly what my literature is going to say about each of those:

Labour: Laura Pidcock [say no more]
Tory: Lives in Sussex [the last one did, although she still got 34.5 per cent of the vote against Pidcock]
Green: Wants the world to be run by Greta Thunberg
Brexit Party: Wants to sell off our NHS to Donald Trump
Lib Dem: I have huge respect for Owen Temple, but he is just plain wrong about Brexit

Another hung Parliament is coming, however, and we need our people to hold the balance of power in it. A new party is now in the process of registration. After nearly 30 years of suggestion, speculation, and even a sort of preparation, I will stand for Parliament here at North West Durham. The crowdfunding page is here, and buy the book here. Please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.
