Voting Rights

Yes, Nigel Farage wants to privatise the NHS. But he is not going to be able to do that as an MEP. After all, he has been an MEP for many years. And in fact the EU wants to privatise the NHS, too.

The State's direct ownership of the hospitals and direct employment of the staff is peculiarly British, and it is the thing of which most British people are proudest about our country: our healthcare system does not give us universal treatment free at the point of delivery, because we already own that system and so we are not in that supplicant position in the first place. What we get was already and always ours.

All of that is thoroughly at odds with the founding principles of the Single Market and the Customs Union. Nor does the EU guarantee workers' rights. What workers' right? There were far more of those in Britain before we ever went in, and that is not a coincidence.

But even if it were true, then it would still be wrong. Workers' rights should be guaranteed by the Parliament of the United Kingdom, and that requires the election of the right people to the Parliament of the United Kingdom.

So vote for the Brexit Party this once, not for Farage's sake, but for that of several others. And beyond that, another hung Parliament is coming, so that we need our people to hold the balance of power in it.

It has become a local commonplace that I am on 30-30-30 with Labour and the Conservatives here at North West Durham, so that any one of us could be the First Past the Post. I will stand for this seat, if I can raise the £10,000 necessary to mount a serious campaign.
