The free press? Where, exactly? Free speech for whom? Julian Assange? But my friend David O'Toole is on sparkling form against Extinction Rebellion here.
Yet does anyone seriously believe that Keir Starmer, who himself hardly agrees with the case made in that link, would have come down so hard on Dawn Butler if she had not been, well, you know? Starmer is a former Director of Public Prosecutions. That he ever applied for that job tells us all that we need to know about his attitude to black people, as also to the organised working class.
It is a pity that there can be no Labour Party Conference this month. Between the Black Lives Matter riot and the Palestinian bomb, then the Labour Right could have been wiped out, and British politics could have started again without it. Now, that would have been an Extinction Rebellion that was well worth supporting.
