The Con Is On

Of course Donald Trump could not name 52 targets in Iran. He has been fed this symbolically numbered list by the neoconservatives, against whom he ran and who will always hate him, but who have the votes of enough Republican Senators to remove him from office if they voted with the Democrats.

He has bought them with the prize that they have always wanted above all others, Iran, where the likes of John Bolton wish to install the utterly insane PMOI/MEK as the new regime. That is the weirdest political cult in the world, and it has been in exile since 1981, meaning that it has no constituency in a country of which half the population is under 30 years of age.

How the world turns. The PMOI/MEK was headquartered for many years in Saddam Hussein's Iraq, where it participated in atrocities committed by the Revolutionary Guard. During the Iraq War, Bolton's, Bush's and Blair's Boys bombed it into surrender, as part of a deal with Iran to hand over certain al-Qaeda suspects who were of course in any case opponents of the Iranian regime.

Oh, how the world does turn. Opponents of the Iraq War were screamed down as Islamists and revolutionary Marxists due to the presence of a few of each in our enormous ranks. But now the plan is to hand over Iran to the people who really do manage the remarkable feat of being both of those things, yet who were nevertheless closely allied to Saddam Hussein.

The Americans have relocated the PMOI/MEK to Albania, which is now a member of NATO. It also maintains a considerable presence in the France of Emmanuel Macron. It is allied both to Israel and to Saudi Arabia, with that latter alliance showing us that its Shia principles are truly worth as much as its Leftist ones.

In this cause, the neocons have also fed Trump their customary blather about links to 9/11, while the claim that Qassem Soleimani had been about to launch an attack on Americans recalls the weapons of destruction that were within 45 minutes of deployment against Britain. Perhaps he had found them, and he had been about to use them?

Trump has also made some remark about Soleimani's wildly improbable involvement in an unspecified terror plot in London, indicating that he is desperate to bring a hugely reluctant Britain onside. But unless we really do want there to be such an attack, then we must resist. As must India, since that remark also contained an equally incredible reference to New Delhi.

With material this bad, the neocons are becoming a disgrace to the name of Leo Strauss. But who is to call them to account as such? This article of Craig Murray's is now one of the most read in the world. I urge you to read it. And I will be standing for Parliament again here at North West Durham next time, so please give generously. In any event, please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.
