"On The Same Page"?

Like "sympathy", what, exactly, does "on the same page" mean in practical terms? We are not going to participate in a war with Iran, yet we are in danger of making ourselves a target in any case, because careless talk really does cost lives.

Nearly 14 centuries on, the Sunni-Shia schism is now geopolitically definitive. Hardened into Wahhabism and Velâyat-e Faqih, both of which are entirely modern phenomena, the two sides take the respective forms of Saudi Arabia and Iran.

The United States, Israel and India are allied to one, while Russia and China are allied to the other. However bizarre any of this may be, it is the case. There were stranger alliances during the Cold War, or during the Second World War, or during the First World War, and so on back.

But there is no reason for Britain to take either side, and every reason not to do so. Or to appear to do so. The Government was doing far more to defend our people when it was sticking to the same line as Jeremy Corbyn, albeit not a line that most Labour MPs would take.

I will be standing for Parliament again here at North West Durham next time, so please give generously. In any event, please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.
