Under Fed, Over Fed

We know from the recording that the Police Federation reps lied.

We know from Michael Portillo that Andrew Mitchell does use the word "pleb"; if Portillo "misspoke", then he ought to welcome the chance to clarify under oath.

Bang them all up in the same cell.

But remember this: the trade union defence of services against cuts is not for the squeamish. That is why the Police are so good at it: it is not unlike policing, which is also not for the squeamish.

These reps are going to have to pay the price for having been caught. But that was what they did wrong: in the course of doing what sometimes, and increasingly, has to be done, they allowed themselves to be caught.
