Rather Closer To Home

Overseas aid money going to "al-Shabaab"? What, exactly, is "al-Shabaab"? Is it, like "al-Qaeda", a brand name at most; there is certainly no such organisation as "al-Qaeda"?

Or is it, like "the Taliban", simply a scare name for a particular ethnic group, members of which, when they happen to do certain things that they happen to do, are called "the Taliban", or, indeed, "al-Shabaab"? And what gripe has it with us? "The Taliban" had none until we were daft enough to give them one, although even then all that they have had to do has been to wait for us to leave.

Cameron wants "local community leaders" to be given the right to decide public holidays and who knows what else so long as they fill in all of their households' postal votes in the Bullingdon Boys' interests and get all of their mates to do likewise.

To the little Caliphates, little Hindutvas, little Khalistans, little Judeas and so on thus defined, people will flock from the ends of the earth, entrenching the situation forever. All at oodles and oodles of public expense. Somalia is the least of our worries.
