"We have it in our power to begin the world over again." Ronald Reagan favourably quoted that line from Tom Paine and added, "We still have that power". As utterly unconservative a sentiment as "I know in my heart that Man is good".
How refreshing to hear Andrew Bacevich, and especially to hear his conservative praise of Jimmy Carter's unsung prophetic calls against materialism in general and oil dependence in particular.
