Mothers of the House

When will there be lots of MPs whose experience is specifically that of having been successful full-time homemakers, part of what Patricia Hewitt used to call "the problem of mothers who do not work", and of what Harriet Harman no doubt still does call "women who stay at home and do nothing"?

  1. Yes, why oh why is it that experienced home-makers so rarely attempt to take on a 90-hour-per-week job requiring a weekly cross-country commute? Why? Why?
