The newly deceased Congressman Jack Murtha may have wobbled a bit over embryonic stem cell "research", but he was unwavering on abortion, consistently receiving the honour of a 0% rating from NARAL, plus a 70% rating from the National Right to Life Committee.
He also scored an A from the National Rifle Association, and opposed NAFTA, CAFTA, Bush's tax plan, and Bush's Social Security privatisation. Plus the Federal Marriage Amendment, but nobody's perfect. He co-sponsored the Flag Desecration Amendment, and he led the effort by House Democrats to support John McCain's attempts to forbid abusive treatment of suspected terrorists.
He voted both for the Stupak Amendment and then for the Affordable Healthcare for America Act itself, having also supported a Bill to prohibit pregnant minors from crossing state borders to obtain abortions.
Requiescat in pace.
