What did Chris Huhne find to say in favour of the Single Transferable Vote on The World At One? That it allowed people to choose among the different wings of or tendencies within the same party? Don't be silly. We all know that, politically, all the candidates would be exactly the same, not only within the same party in any given constituency, but across every party in every constituency in the land. No, STV would "allow voters to discipline errant MPs who had been caught with their hands in the till". As if, frankly, it would even provide any alternative to that these days.
I don't know why the Lib Dems are so keen on STV. It was introduced for local government in Scotland and their number of councillors went down. They are entirely a product of First Past The Post, and could not survive the transition to anything else for Westminster.
