Toppling The Tyrant

Dr John Sentamu’s excellent article on Zimbabwe.

But we do not have a good recent record when it comes to invading places.

The initiative must come from within Zimbabwe. A declaration of allegiance to the Queen by Zimbabwe’s rightful government, and an appeal to all Her Majesty’s Loyal Subjects (in places most of which are predominantly or entirely non-white) to come to their aid, would have the necessary moral and political force.

Thatcher-worshippers, meanwhile, need to wake up to the fact that it was she who failed to recognise the Muzorewa-Smith Government, holding out instead for the Soviet-backed Nkomo as if he would have been any better than the Chinese-backed Mugabe.

And speaking of Nkomo, however wrong the attacks on white farmers might have been and might still be, why has it taken that, and not the equivalent of a Sharpeville Massacre every day for nearly ten months a generation ago in Nkomo’s Matabeleland, to bring about such outrage against Mugabe?
