If the world is a conspiracy, then it is a remarkably unsuccessful conspiracy.
And in the case of 11th September 2001, the truth is far worse than a mere inside job. That day was indeed the happiest day in the life of George Bush (at last, something that could be used to bring about his otherwise inconceivable second term as President), and also in the lives of the neocons whose unwitting (because witless) puppet he was and is (at last, an excuse to take out Iraq, Iran, Syria...). But this was not because of any sort of conspiracy. Rather, it was because, in their own terms, they had suddenly found themselves lucky beyond their wildest dreams.
Yes, it really was, and it really is, as bad as that. And, as with the alliance between neoconservatism and "militant Islam", I am going to carry on taking every opportunity to say so. Those who want me to stop, you know who you are. And so do I...
As for whether Blair was happy on 7/7, at the very least I doubt that he minded too much. Of course, such things are nothing new here. And they are always an excuse to dust down the file containing ID cards, prolonged detention without charge (not trial, charge), yet further erosions of trial by jury, and all the rest.
Even when the IRA nearly blew up Margaret Thatcher or nearly mortar bombed John Major, there was continuous, though publicly denied, contact, leading to the present arrangement whereby Sinn Fein is formally guaranteed a permanent place in the government of Northern Ireland, and effectively allowed to run its designated areas however it likes. Inhabitants of areas with large Muslim populations, ponder these things.

Like you, I witnessed the glee of Hilary Armstrong just after 7/7. She was almost leaping out of her seat with joy. All her Christmases had come at once. Suddenly they could do all the things they had always wanted to. In those days we still had enough of a Parliament to say no, though.
ReplyDeleteThe DUP should ponder your wise words before voting with the Government on 42 day detention. Rumour has it that they will vote for that in return for some financial deal with the Northern Ireland Executive in which they sit chucling with Sinn Fein.
ReplyDeleteAre you going to put up candidates in Northern Ireland? I would happily now vote for a Roman Catholic with views like yours rather than for the so-called DUP. A lot of former DUP voters feel the same.
Who are they?
ReplyDeleteHow do you know who they are?
How do you know they are trying to stop you?
Can you let us know too, or is it merely powerful individuals like yourself who can know the secret?
"Like you, I witnessed the glee of Hilary Armstrong just after 7/7."
ReplyDeleteI, too, remember it well.
"In those days we still had enough of a Parliament to say no, though."
Over to Ulsterman, I feel:
"The DUP should ponder your wise words before voting with the Government on 42 day detention."
You are very kind, and I very much hope that they do.
"Are you going to put up candidates in Northern Ireland?"
Oh yes, if we can find them - davidaslindsay@hotmail.com
"Who are they?"
No one who really matters, at least not any more. But they have to be warned from time to time.
"How do you know who they are?"
They do what they do on the Internet, where, even if they do not declare their actual identities, they drop broad enough hints (presumably on purpose).
"How do you know they are trying to stop you?"
Because they say so.
Could you provide a web link where one or more of them addresses these comments to you, so we can all try and judge them? Googling your name doesn't pull anything up (which in itself is strange, as I'd expected to see plentiful references to the BPA)
ReplyDeleteThe latest line of attack is on the "patriot" sites in the US, and I have absolutely no intention of linking to them.
ReplyDeleteYou sound like these people, though. If it's not on the Net, then it's not happening. But most politics doesn't take place on the Net, certainly not here in what even Andrew Marr rightly called "a mostly provincial, middle-of-the-road country".
I'd love to see the sites in question, because I love seeing you make mincemeat of your opponents. Please don't deny us all the pleasure of watching you win. Just give us the links. Please...
ReplyDelete(After all, if you're reading them, you must be visiting them. Don't deny the same pleasure to your own readers - I'm sure we're grown-up enough not to be taken in by them, just as you are.)
I don't read them, and I certainly don't contribute to them. People from them leave comments here, which I don't publish; or they email me.
ReplyDeleteYes this seems to be the latest one, that you are a 9/11 truther. The time that they must spend on these things. But they insist that you are an irrelevance and a joke.

ReplyDeleteWell, I've scoured Technorati and Google for recent mentions of "David Lindsay" and links to davidlindsay.blogspot.com, but apart from Oliver Kamm's recent hilarious comments thread I've drawn a blank.
Any clues as to why?
Not a clue. I'm just going on unprintable comments here and emails. Lots of them.
