Roll of Honour

These are the nine Labour MPs who voted against the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill last night:

Joe Benton (Bootle)
Tom Clarke (Coatbridge, Chryston & Bellshill) - a very close ally of Gordon Brown's
Claire Curtis-Thomas (Crosby)
David Drew (Stroud)
Paul Farrelly (Newcastle-under-Lyme)
Andrew Mackinlay (Thurrock)
George Mudie (Leeds East)
Geraldine Smith (Morecambe & Lunesdale)
David Taylor (Leicestershire North West)

Paul Truswell (Pudsey) cast a deliberate abstention by voting in both lobbies.

David Cameron, let the reader understand, voted in favour, putting him in a minority in his own party, as he was over the abolition of the blasphemy law. They should either get rid of him, or get out and set up without him.

MPs who support this Bill and whose marginal constituencies contain lots of Catholics (as does, just for a start, probably every Labour-held one in Scotland, the North or the Midlands), I wish you a very happy retirement.
