A number of the District of Columbia's judges turned up to gloat from the public gallery at Donald Trump's arraignment. One of them was Amy Berman Jackson, who dismissed a wrongful death suit filed against Hillary Clinton by the parents of two of the Americans killed in Benghazi, who sent Paul Manafort to solitary confinement for nearly a year, who withheld exculpatory evidence from Roger Stone's lawyer, who tweeted her hatred of Trump and Stone during that trial, and who released a January 6 protestor, Thomas Sibick, from pre-trial custody after he had written her a letter calling for Trump to be "ostracised".
It is all a circus, of course. Either Trump will eventually win before the present Supreme Court, or its Chief Justice will end up visiting him in his prison cell to swear him in as President seconds before Trump pardoned himself and walked out. Trump would prefer the latter outcome, but it is going to be one or the other. Those of us still preferred serious politics can have no truck with ethnic or generational sentimentality. The position of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Israel and Palestine is an absolute disqualification, and in any case he is not going to be on the ballot. Our candidate is Cornel West.
They will go after him, but they will be fools to do so.
ReplyDeleteThis was an answer to, "West has really got them on the run." Still in my record of published comments. But vanished from here.
