Towering Hypocrisy

I doubt that Sir Geoffrey Boycott and I would get on. I recall thinking how much he and Margaret Moore deserved each other. But he may or may not have punched her 21 years ago, just as she may or may not have been trying to blackmail him for a million  pounds.

Whereas Dame Cressida Dick certainly did preside over the State murder of the blameless Jean Charles de Menezes in 2005. And Gavin Barwell was the Housing Minister who was given, “clear warnings to review fire safety rules in the months leading up to Grenfell, but failed to reply to letters or meet with the MPs raising concerns.” Lord Barwell of Grenfell Tower, then? If not, why not?

Once punching a no doubt well-heeled white person, since Boycott has always moved in those sorts of circles, back in the last century, and if that incident ever really happened at all? The cry is to take away his knighthood. But indisputably killing a brown man on the streets of London rather more recently? Make her a Dame. And burning at least 72 working-class and BAME people to death, while injuring at least another 74 sufficiently to require hospital treatment, as recently as 2017? Send him to the Lords.

Another hung Parliament is coming, however, and we need our people to hold the balance of power in it. A new party is now in the process of registration. After nearly 30 years of suggestion, speculation, and even a sort of preparation, I will stand for Parliament here at North West Durham. The crowdfunding page is here, and buy the book here. Please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.

  1. If we had real media in this country, comment like this would make you a star columnist, never off television, Radio Four and Jeremy Vine's radio programme.
