Or Any Other Person

"A racist incident is any incident which is perceived to be racist by the victim or any other person." So said the Macpherson Report, and the right-wing papers have hated it for 19 years. Until it became useful for attacking Jeremy Corbyn. Alas, though, they have picked the wrong week.

The creation of the State of Israel instantly created a strong sense of distinct Palestinian nationhood as well. In themselves, the Israeli and Palestinian identities, which are now into their fourth generations, are entitled to the same respect and recognition But not according to the new Nation State Law.

Israel, which some of us have gone out of our way to try and give the benefit of the doubt for the sake of the human beings of whose identity it is definitive, really has become a racist state. It does not have to remain one. But while it does, then nothing should stop anyone from saying so.
