Don't Be A Blimp

It is the Durham Miners' Gala this weekend. Donald who? Tourists are always welcome in Britain. And anyone who is coming here purely to take tea and to play golf is precisely that. A tourist.

By all means protest against Donald Trump. But only if you would also have protested against Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton, and only if, given the opportunity, you did.

Bringing us to the fact that every President of the United States since the War has demanded the Europeans spend more on "defence". But it was only when Trump said it that the gatekeepers of approved outrage began to pay any attention.

Nor should they be taken seriously when they complain that the Metropolitan Police has banned stage and sound equipment from London's demonstration. They have pulled enough strokes like that, and a great deal worse, against their own critics and those of their American and other allies.

And they are not finished yet. Or, at least, they do not intend to be. But there is going to be another hung Parliament. We need our people to hold the balance of power in it. I need £10,000 in order to stand for Parliament with any chance of winning.

My crowdfunding page has been taken down without my knowledge or consent. But you can still email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com instead, and that address accepts PayPal.
