Country Roads, Take Us Home

To the place we belong.

Ignored by the almost uniformly pro-Coalition national media (which blacks out the very few parts - the Mirror Group newspapers, the New Statesman, the Morning Star - that do not stick to that agreed line; even Owen Jones is only one columnist), the Tolpuddle Festival is in full swing this weekend.

Just after the abolition of the Agricultural Wages Board. With the privatisation of the Royal Mail about to be imposed upon a grateful countryside. And with the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats equally complicit in both.

In rural areas, in the West Country, indeed anywhere at all, there is at most one way of voting against these policies.

If there is that. Will Labour commit to restore the AWB and to renationalise the Royal Mail? Why has Ed Miliband himself not gone to Tolpuddle to tell them that? Not even the BBC could quite have got away with ignoring this event if he had done so.

  1. If you declare Owen Jones your sole media ally, I presume you now forego any claim to be any kind of a conservative.

Jones is an anti-marriage, anti-grammar school, pro-immigration socially liberal republican who says Labour should hold an EU referendum "and campaign to stay in". Indeed!

He's described Peter Hitchens moral views as "bigoted".

So, with Left-wing allies like Jones, your not pretending to be a conservative any more then.

    I don't. You obviously can't read.

But even one would be one more than UKIP has. The brief flirtations of the last few months are very definitely over.

With this attitude even to the countryside, I am not surprised. Of course, you thought that only your own caste lived there, and even then only at weekends. That'll teach you to believe everything that you hear on the BBC.

  3. Oh, UKIP has many media allies at both the Spectator and Telegraph.

My point was that it's interesting to note who your media allies are-extreme social liberals and multicultural republicans from the Hard Left.

Wait for the European elections on that one.

Who is my "own caste"? Do you know anything about me?

  4. Oh, yes. You are unmistakable. From the whole of the rest of that barking mad comment, for a start.

  5. That should teach you not to make assumptions about strangers.

So, in answer, you know absolutely nothing about me.

You are just a naive, deluded leftist who makes false assumptions about the social class of people who disagree with him.

The Left doesn't like people disagreeing with them.
