Suffolk Off

Why was this person Andrea Hill paid so much in the first place? Her position could only have been filled from a very limited field. There is no competition for such appointments from the private sector, nor should there be, since running a local authority has little or nothing to do with running a private company.

For that matter, there is far too much running of councils by officers instead of by councillors, a trend only made even worse by the previous Government's abolition of the proper committee system, to which Eric Pickles will now permit reversion, although he has stopped short of doing what is really necessary and requiring that change back.

We need to ban any company from paying any employee more than ten times what it pays any other employee, with the whole public sector (including MPs and Ministers) functioning as one for this purpose, its median wage pegged permanently and by statute at the median wage in the private sector once the urgently necessary reversals of privatisation and contracting out had been achieved, and with an absolute statutory ban on paying anyone more than the Prime Minister.

  1. Why do you not work?

  2. His CV lists five current jobs, one of which he has had for 15 years which means he has worked ever since he left school. He also has starry referees to prove it. Where he lives, if he doesn't work it's only because he can afford not to. But anyhow he does, five times over.

  3. Thank you for the reminder that two of my referees have just been promoted even further, so their details on my CV will have to be changed.

    But on topic, please.
