When Rupert Met Lyndon

Rupert Murdoch's Australian interests used to be extremely hostile to Lyndon LaRouche's operation in that country, the Citizens Electoral Council. But Murdoch has done more than anyone else to vilify the Royal Family. And only this year, whatever is this?

Not for the first time, I have today been accused of reproducing material from "extremist" sites in relation to an employee of News Corporation, easily identifiable from my blog roll. News Corporation, that is, which not only cheered on the Blair Wars, but also gives a national television platform, in the only country where they have ever won national office under their own name, to the followers of Lyndon LaRouche. Hardly the voice of political moderation and sanity.

  1. LaRouche speaks: "In addition to the arrest of Rebekah Brooks, and the scheduled appearances of Rupert and Robert Murdoch on Tuesday before a parliamentary inquest, Labour Party chief Ed Milbank granted an interview today to the Guardian/Observer, demanding the dismantling of the Murdoch empire. Milbank's and Labour's political star has been rising in recent days, since they uncorked against Murdoch, who had been the ultimate backer of ex-New Labour PM Tony Blair."

  2. They are easy to mock, but the CEC's official 13-point platform is as follows:

    * The establishment of a "New Bretton Woods International Monetary System".
    * The establishment of a National Bank and State Banks.
    * The repeal of all federal and state anti-union legislation.
    * The repeal of recent laws, such as the Australian anti-terrorism legislation, 2004, which the CEC believes have "taken away the civil rights of Australians".
    * An immediate halt to the privatisation of Commonwealth and State assets and regulatory bodies.
    * An immediate moratorium on foreclosures of family farms.
    * The immediate elimination of the National Competition Policy.
    * The elimination of the Goods and Services Tax.
    * The reassertion of national control over Australia's oil and gas and huge mineral resources.
    * A "dramatic expansion" of resources to all public health facilities.
    * A "dramatic upgrading" of federal and state infrastructure.
    * A "real war on drugs".
    * The establishment of "generous immigration quotas".

They are also sceptical about AGW.

They claim to be the true inheritors of the pre-Whitlam ALP tradition. If they above was all they stood for, they would be. Allowed on Murdoch's TV station, they are obviously coming out of the shadows. Who will stand up for the real ALP tradition, or will it be ceded to the CEC and through them to LaRouche?

  3. "Milbank", indeed? Can't any LaRouchie actually spell other people's surnames?
