Lessons Learned?

"The Home Secretary, Priti Patel, has visited the scene," apparently. In order to announce her resignation? If not, why not? Before he had been granted asylum, Khairi Saadallah had been in and out of prison since he had arrived in this country. Yet he was not deported.

There will now be attacks on civil liberties. But Islamist terrorism is a huge problem in several of the countries with the least civil liberty on the planet. The Taliban have killed at least 291 Afghan security personnel over the past week.

What a great success has been the war in Afghanistan, which has now been going on for so long that one rarely thinks about it. It is just there. And what a success is repression against Islamist terrorism. Or against any other kind of terrorism. Look at the world.
