Ice Lollies At Dawn

For all the faults of Ash Sarkar, and indeed of Black Lives Matter, we can all see who are the real snowflakes.

The Pub Bore Right has reverted to its pre-Johnson and pre-Brexit aspect of screaming and bellowing rage at the mere existence of absolutely anything at all. They are the trigger happy, only happy when they are triggered, and happily triggered morning, noon and night.

They are still waiting for "Nigel". But as he ponders whether to contest the first Conservative seat to hold a by-election that this time he might even win, then Nigel Farage needs to consider whether he wanted anything to do with them. He has not done so in the past.

Instead, he left them to what is now almost the forgotten figure of Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, and to supposedly grown men who went around calling themselves "Count Dankula" and "Sargon of Akkad". Their fanboys were sincerely convinced that those idols were famous, and even influential. But the Brexit Party won last year's European Elections, while each of those crashed and burned.

The once-ubiquitous Milo Yiannopoulos, Damian Thompson's gift to the world, might now be dead for all that anyone knows or cares. Katie Hopkins is suddenly but inescapably in much the same position. Farage is far too clever to end up like that.

In any case, his position on the statues will be that they ought to be removed peacefully to museums, which is exactly the position of Boris Johnson, Keir Starmer, Nicola Sturgeon, Jeremy Corbyn and George Galloway. George also needs to get back into electoral politics, and here in County Durham we know exactly how he ought to do it.

Furthermore, the editorially independent weekly magazine by half-owning which The Centre will partly fund itself would more than welcome, among its 20 or so weekly columnists, him and one of his supporters in each of the Red Wall areas of the North East, Yorkshire and the Humber, the North West, North Wales, the West Midlands, and the East Midlands.

The same goes for Nigel Farage. But if he doesn't want you, Tighty Righties, then no one does, and no one ever will.
