And they are very much needed, as the next Leader of the Labour Party, although he graciously concedes that it is "not a priority", refuses to rule out campaigning to rejoin the EU.
It was in any case psephologically impossible for Labour to win in 2024. But at this rate, it is going to lose another 50 seats.
