Of course Jeremy Corbyn is not going to be the next Shadow Foreign Secretary. The next Leader of the Opposition is going to be a member of the Trilateral Commission.
He was appointed to the Shadow Cabinet by Corbyn, of course. Sentimentality about the present Labour Leader is entirely misplaced. Labour has an outer left flank that has in fact been more rigorously policed under Corbyn than under any previous Leader. But it does not have, nor has it ever had, any outer right flank whatever.
No economic or foreign policy position has ever been so right-wing as to constitute a bar to membership of the Labour Party, or even a bar to the Leadership of the Labour Party. The next Leader of the Labour Party is going to be a member of the Trilateral Commission.
Ours is the 2020 Vision of a new political party, a new think tank, a new weekly newspaper, a new monthly cultural review, a new quarterly academic journal, and so much else besides. I will be standing for Parliament again here at North West Durham next time, so please give generously. In any event, please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.
