Don't Stand Down, Stand Up

Nigel Farage and his followers were always going to go home eventually. But most of us had expected them to get the General Election out of the way first. And the role of the former Revolutionary Communist Party, a pillar of the Brexit Party while also ensconced in Boris Johnson's office, cries out for further investigation.

The seats that matter most this time are those marginals which are currently held by Labour. And those seats have been completely unaffected by Nigel Farage's announcement yesterday. The Brexit Party will not be standing down in them, and the Conservative Party will not be standing down anywhere.

That said, there is still no Conservative candidate here at North West Durham, where that party took 34.5 per cent of the vote last time. But that is probably just a cock-up. And you can still vote for Boris Johnson as Prime Minister by voting either for the Brexit Party, which now openly exists for no other purpose, or for the Liberal Democrats, who would spend a week or so pretending to be wring invisible concessions out of him before going back into Coalition with the only partner that they would ever accept.

Another hung Parliament is coming, however, and we need our people to hold the balance of power in it. I am standing for Parliament here at North West Durham. The crowdfunding page is here, and buy the book here. Please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.
