Hall
was scarcely less Caucasian than I am, and he was considerably
lighter-skinned than many of my close relatives, although he
nevertheless maintained that he was the darkest member of his own
family.

blood making an intellectual a "black intellectual", so that whiteness
remains strictly members only.
It is as if Stuart Hall had never been born.
