Unite, Indeed; Progress, Indeed

Why not simply declare that all levy-paying trade unionists and members of other affiliated organisations, unless members of any other party apart from the Co-operative Party, are automatically members of their Constituency Labour Parties?

Easy.

Should have happened decades ago.

  1. Why not?
    Well...Norn Iron.
It doesnt have any Constituency Labour Parties.
Trade Unionists here tend to think that there is no point in paying a levy for that reason alone.
Those trade union members of a unionist mindset tend to be suspicious of Labour and vote for parties to the right of Conservatives, who do have a small organisation here.
those trade unionists...like myself...who have a nationalist outlook vote SDLP or Sinn Fein.

SDLP is of course a sister-party of the Labour Party but trade unionists here are far too cowardly...they claim non sectarian ...to ever endorse SDLP.
trade union leaders here tend to pretend they are members of a putative Labour Party here ( membership at 2011 was 175) or the Workers Party ( total membership 2011 John Lowry)....but of course every trade union leader here has the phone numbers of every SDLP MLA on their smart phone and Facebook.

same is true of Scotland. Whats the point in trade union members paying a levy and being a member of the Labour Party in Glasgow, Dundee or Elgin and voting seperatist?
