Half of boys might drop a grade at GCSE because of some football tournament on the telly?
Easy.
Don't put that football tournament on the telly.
But then what will be the excuse when that same half of boys doesn't do very well, not even at Thatcher's wretched GCSE? Might they have been, you know, the thick half all along?

It really annoys me the way so much teaching and examination is designed to appeal to them. A year when they all failed anyway might be just we need to shake us out of it. What is so special about people like that? The entire television schedules have to be butchered to suit them and now they want the schools exams moved as well. Who the hell do they think they are?
